I intent to yes but there are still some issues. First of all i am concerned with breaking canon. We have members that are very specific about ships strengths and weaknesses. So i wonder of course how powerful should the vorlon dreadnought be.

In all honesty, I would leave the scene alone for the most part, especially when it comes to such hotly debated discussions as how strong such a blast would actually be...

... but that's just me and my non-confrontational self speaking.

I can see your point there abraxas.

Unfortunately my time on this was very limited in the last few weeks as i am preparing to move. I tried to work on the texture of the ship. I changed the proceduals and i added a color gradient to the reflection channel which gives the surface an interesting color effect. That effect is not static it changes as the ships moves.

Feedback is always welcome and of course any ideas.

Damned man.

That is seriously detailed, and I am the guy that does detail for a living.

I like the idea of the gradient, but obviously can't give feedback on the overall effect without seeing it moving. From the stills it adds to the image but isn't overpowering, which is a good thing. It might be worth playing with some SSS to get the organic look, but I don't know too much about lightwaves SSS shaders so I couldn't make suggestions beyond that. Good work as always.

I know it has been some time since i posted an update but i had a slight data accident while doing a format which resulted in an almost complete loss of everything i have been working on
Not everything is gone tho. So i have done some new things. Maybe you can recognize that scene :)

Cool, I like it. The B5 mesh looks a bit low-poly but the explosion is great and the sense of motion on the severed stabiliser is fantastic. Well done.

Hi, LW (and all),

Wow, that looks great! It was worth dropping by!* I think a link to "page 12" of this thread should go on my website's "cool links" page, and maybe the link should go on the "cool pics" page too. Is that ok, LW? (Yes, credit WILL be given.)

*I'm afraid I haven't been around here much recently -- We've been really busy trying to stay afloat. At least my website seems to be getting just a bit of traction...

I have not forgotten about the audio side of this (should some sort of video remake ever be forthcoming.) I can't remember where I "left it" pages back, but I have aquired both a DBX Subharmonic Synthesizer and a Pioneer "Super Bass" synthesizer -- have actually played with the latter more, and have had a little success in improving the realism of weapons hits to ships in B5 soundtracks. I'm a bit limited though, as I sold another largish speaker system I'd rebuilt, and am back to smaller ones for now, so I can't really tell how much low end I'm adding, from a listening standpoint. Another set of larger speakers is in the works, but is temporarily on hold to take care of more urgent projects & business... (I keep saying I'm gonna put a couple of those "bass shakers" I have, in my own sofa, but I just can't seem to get around to it!)

Hopefully, I'll be back a little more quickly, "next time".

I always loved this scene, starting from where Ivonova gives Sheridan that piece of the Blackstar. Then Londo calls, the tension builds and all hell breaks loose.

Great choice, LW!

And Paul, it's great to hear from you again!

Hey, Abraxas,

I've just been too busy. Sort of like the 3rd vid ("Hocus Pocus") on a new page I started on my website - pretty funny, heheh:

Hi, LW, all,

I guess this sorta died. LW, do you have your various images posted (as in a gallery) anywhere? I was thinking of trying to find one to use as the desktop image for my laptop. Would be happy to put a link on my website, too. :-)

Re: B5 Special Effects Remake (attempt)

Hi.
Well it sort of died but i still have all the files backuped. If i have enough spare time ill start on it again  I recently started with linear workflow and this could improve my work alot, but its kind of giving me a headache atm to get the linear stuff worked out.
Regarding your request,i will look through my files and send it via pm.

Re: B5 Special Effects Remake (attempt)

Linear colourspace is great once you get into it. I started experimenting a few months ago and it makes a huge difference. Of course the problem is that you need something capable of doing post with hdr. The only ones I know of are fusion and after effects and they are kind of expensive. For single images you can get away with using the freeware hdrshop, which is nice.
