GAIM INTELLIGENCE
gaimrace
RACE: Gaim
HOME WORLD: N'chak'fah
KNOWN COLONIES: NONE
ALLIANCES: Interstellar Alliance
GOVERNMENT: Monarchy
MILITARY: Unknown - Beleived to have up to at least a thousand starships
TECHNOLOGY: Stellar

Gaim come from a planet known as N'chak'fah, with a thick atmosphere which completely obscured this insectoid like race from seeing the stars.  With no knowledge of what lay beyond the ski above, the Gaim did not dream of space flight or what lay beyond their home world for centuries.

Content with their own lives and affairs, the six royal houses of N'chak'fah competed among themselves.  Ruled by a strict Monarchy based government where the Queens hold absolute dominion over her subjects, the Royal houses of Gaim completed fiercely among themselves for control of their world.  Terrestrial conflicts on Gaim are among the most vicious recorded in the League, the Cold War like struggle between the Royal houses never ending.  Gaim was a splintered world with apparently no hope of uniting together.

This all changed about fifty Earth years ago, when the Narn Regime attempted to invade the Gaim home world.  The Narn, looking to find world technologically inferior enough to conquer and exploit in their war of vengeance against the Centauri Republic, believed that N'chak'fah would be an easy target.  They were very, very wrong.

When the Narns faced the Gaim in open combat, their forces were decimated.  Their thick atmosphere making long range plasma weapons (the primary Narn space weapon of the time) all but useless from orbit, the Narns were forced to face the Gaim on the Gaim's forces in ground combat.

For the first time in Gaim history, the segmented royal houses of the Gaim home world united to stave off the Narn Regime's attempt to Invade.  Genetically engineered warrior drones slaughtered Narn troops and warrior insects given the power of flight drove Narn fighter craft to fiery deaths against the rugged terrain of N'chak'fah.

The Narn, seeing that continued war with the Gaim would be more trouble than it was worth, pulled their forces out and moved onto easier targets.  Their attempted invasion however left a profound impact on the Gaim people, for now they knew that threats came from the stars as well as opposing governments on their own world.

Faced with the threat of invasion from outside forces, the Queens put an end to thousands of years of open hostilities and turned to gather as much information about potential threats from the stars.  This eventually led the Gaim Queens to decide that contact with other races was necessary to their world's safety and survival.

To deal with aliens, the Gaim Queens consciously manipulated the genetic matterials in their eggs to achieve a new breed of Gaim, an ambassador class drone.  For the first time in their planet's recorded history, the Gaim Queens combined their genetic matterials and produced a Gaim capable of representing the whole Gaim society and all the Royal houses of N'chak'fah.

Like an insect colony, all life on the Gaim home world revolves around the service of the Queen, who lays tens of thousands of eggs daily. Gaim Queens are able to genetically manipulate her eggs to create into any that is needed by the hive, whether it be worker, warrior, or highly intelligent scientists.  Obedient to the Queens is absolute and is an ingrained part of any Gaim's genetic code.

Gaim society is a task oriented one, with each Gaim created to execute a specific role in the hive.  As new roles are required, new types of drones are created to deal with the tasks required to maintain the safe and positive cohesion of the hive.  As such, the Gaim can evolve extremely fast.  Drones in Gaim society ranges from very intelligent with genious level IQ, to biomechanical worker with no discernable IQ what so ever.

Due to the fact that the Gaim are a relatively new power in the cosmos with little to no knowledge of space flight, the bulk of the Gaim's fleet consist of old Centauri Cruisers, scavenged Markab vessels and old Brakiri freighters.  Gaim are rapidly advancing however, investing the majority of their planetary resources to create highly advanced warships, orbital ship yards and weapons technology.

Gaim, ground force warrior drones are the fiercest soldiers to be found in the known universe.  Genetically engineered specifically for military combat, these fierce warriors are not to be trifled with, as the Narn can attest to.  To help fund the acquisition and development of new technologies, the Gaim Royal houses have taken to hiring out their ground troops as mercenaries.

At present the Gaim's primary exports are biological matterial, specifically biological computers, advanced drugs and deadly bio-weaponry.  The Gaim are the undisputed leaders in the biological science and while their mechanical and space sciences are below many races, this gap is quickly being closed.
